King of all theQUICKIES
The match was hanging in a tie, on a thin razor edge. With half of the side still to bat chances of pakistan winning the world cup 92 were hanging in balance when suddenly imran made a bold choice, to use his ace head in the middle of an innings. The ball was thrown in akrams hand. Akram started his run up, pacing with every pace, ball left his hand and it spoke its language, clipping the bails consecutivly making sure allan lamb and chris lewis were back to where they belonged, the dressing room, and path to victory was paved for pakistan.
This was just one of those many occasions when this left arm vetren ran through the other side. Today, many people ask questions about as to who is the greatest fast man of all time? Is it the great marshall, lillee, ambrose, walsh, waqar, hadlee, mcgrath or donald. For some its a tough one to answer, but if u analyse, the answer lies in the question.
Who took most wickets in both forms of the game, how many overs were bold, on which sort of pitches did he get wickets, was he economical, could he win matches single handedly, did he take wickets in the early part of the game or later, could he get the worlds best batsmen out when wicket would be a bowlers graveyard, and most important of all did everyone think, he could change th match when ever the ball was thrown to him no matter what the circumstances may be? only one person qualifies if all these questions were to be answered, none other than the WASIM AKRAM.
If you see mcgrath is a great bowler but on bowler friendly pitches not on pitches of subcontinent. Donald lost his golden arm with age and was hardly a bowler of his class at the very end of his career. Ambrose was very economical but that wicket column and the ability to win lost matches never showed up.
Lillee was great, but in one dayers he is not as good as his compatriots, in terms of over, wicket ratio. And he never performed very well when the ball was old or the pitch was bat friendly. So I hope after all the analysis you will never be put to shut if you are asked the same question again. Thnx I would love to hear from you on this article. Everybody has his or her point of view so feel free to remark.
