The world would bow to you if you are a sole dictator.....but is that the case? Australia, no wonder is the best team in the world today. In fact, they could possible have another 11 players on the ground to win an international match. They go to the 2003 world cup with a team which is in-form and highly committed and professional(all dimensions), a team which does have a few injuries in the side but never forget to mention that they are the only winners. Consider the following: 1. Ricky Ponting says: We havent come here to perform....we have come here to win. 2. Glenn McGrath says: World Cup is a clean sweep for us. 3. Dean Jones(former Aus. Batsman) says that he would go in the streets naked if Aus. does not win the Cup. 4. Ricky Ponting abuses and passes comments on the pitch when Aussie takes a NZ wicket --->no charges on him(different case). . . . .
The Australians have forgotten that there are 13 other teams playing the same World cup and that all the teams are playing international cricket. My opinion still is that Australia might not win the Cup. Factors 1. Ricky Ponting is not as good a captain as Steve Waugh. He just has a wonderful team in form.2. They have already had a hard time batting against England and NZ - luckily Bichel plays and against Pakistan, the captain forgot that it was Andy Symonds who scored a brilliant 143 and that was actually a rescue. 3. They have left out Steve Waugh from the one day side which is one of the most crucial factor. He is the man of crisis. 4. Shane Warne has had drug and is sleeping home. He could have been a decisive captain and last but not the least 5. It just takes one loss to lose the cup.(this is after they have got into the semi finals and they just have to lose once). . . . .
I still remember Wasim Akram saying in the last cup(1999):India vs Pakistan is a practise match for us. Result: Pakistan lost. . . . . . It is still a dream for them to win just once against our team in the cup. . . . . . .They have forgotten that Steve Waugh (the most popular cricketer in Australia has mentioned that Sachin Tendulkar enjoys as much fame as him in his own country - rest aside all the other Aussie players. Its a pity. We have a billion people in our country to cheer just one Australian loss apart from (i guess) all the other countries in the tournament who have played Australia. The Australians do not even have a population which can match Maharashtra state in India. They have to understand that there are too less a people in their country to enjoy their victory as against us who have crores to cheer their loss. Final wish that they just lose once.
