India in Australia have done remarkably well -- a nice way to silence your critics.
From my point of view what really changed our course to victory and draw was sourav’s tremendous effort in First Test Match. Australia and it’s team has strange way of dominating this game of cricket. They mentally disintegrate you by strong comments from their current and veteran players in the opposition and local media (ex: Shane Warne and his stupid shin music, Hayden on VVS Laxman, etc).
This is where Saurav’s Ton in the first Test made the difference. After this test, Indian Team who were confident of doing well but may be little sceptic about the wickets got the message that it’s not that difficult to beat arrogant worl champions.
Also, this arrogancy may have cost Australian’s dearly which might have pumped Dravid, Laxman, Viru, Sachin and others to do much more better then their previous series. The remarkable thing about Sourav is he demands 100% from his players wheather you are senior like Kumble or junior like Pathan and protects them when their careers/stats are not doing well.
I guess his motto is - if you have talent you will come out succesfull one day!!
But how many previous captains believed in their players and supported them so well ? I think none. Also as it is said Respect is never demanded.
Last but not the least, the support team of India -- Coach (John Wright), Andre Leipus, Sandy Gordon, Bruce Reid and BCCI who gave all that was needed for the Team to suceed AND WE ALL FANS!!
