Is Indian cricket upto the current cricketing demands??? This current team is no doubt, star studded, but are the stars shining on the field is a matter of concern. The stars are twinkling more so in Ad commercials every now and then. Is Indian Cricket team heading towards any positive direction.
When the Australian team made of flesh and blood can perform everytime consistently on the field, why not the men in blue??
Are Our Men in Blue or our Men in Dark?? It is time for our cricketing guys and the cricketing body (supposed to be the worlds richest cricketing body) to focus on the game and improve the quality of the game and bringup the performance standards of every Indian player on the field and more so maintain consistency and get to the habit of winning games and series. Its ridiculous to see India win a series once every two years and they spend the rest of their days with the memories of the successful series. Is the Ad commercials full-filling all their (cricketers’) desires?? is cricket a gate way to Commercial ads??? If YES, then the day is not far from reality when Indian team will be there down under in the ranking table.
I look back at the team that won the Cup in 1983. There was no coach at that time. But the presence of seniors like Gavaskar, Madan Lal and Mohinder who had been around since the late 1960s along with the established players like Vengsarkar, Sandeep Patil, Srikanth and Kirmani, definitely aided Kapil Dev who, at 24, led magnificently from the front.
While the current Indian team is no doub a batch of talent, experience and athleticism, some vital ingredients are missing, so are some key players. As always, one is tempted to ask the question: does the current ODI squad measure up to the class of 83?
Surely, something to think about for Dilip Vengsarkar, chairman of selectors, and one of the first 14 Indians to hold the 1983 worldcup
Its high time our men in blue prepare mentally and physically for the next world cup and try to bring back the 1983 glory. We the Indians, the largest cricketing fraternity would love to watch our cricketeres along with the World Cup and not appearing for commercials Ads promoting fans or banks or colas or beverages or bikes or cars etc etc......
When the entire nation is behind them (men in blue) what is stopping them from winning matches and to bring laurels to our country.???
