The latest NatWest tournament has given a new dimension to indian cricket. The new heroes Yuvraj Singh and Md.Kaif displayed the temperment and an attitude that the senior players have lacked.
No matter how many centuries you have scored, if you cannot put your head down and deliver the goods in a final match of a tournament, you have to re-sort your priorities. Tendulkar, the man with 33 centuries seems to have lost it. That instinct to win a trophy for india he showed at sharjah against australia a few years ago is missing. I wonder if hes played for records!
Enough said, Tendulkar is the best, hope he gets his act together and realise hes worth a lot more than just 20-30 runs.
This tournament though was not about Tendulkar, it was Yuvraj Singh. His consistant performance, powerful hitting has definetely earned him a permanent cap in the side. He reminds me of consistant Robin Singh! Above all hes just 20 !! Well see a lot of more of him!
Md.Kaif came of age in the finals. From being the under-19 captain to the hero of the Natwest finals, hes come a long way. It was his never giveup attitude that was something lacking in the team. Once Yuvraj departed, and tailenders to come, one would have written off the match in englands favour. Md.Kaif had other plans :-). It was one of those rare occasions when an indian cricketer settle for nothing more than victory, come what may.
This attitude should rub-off on the rest of the team and should demand similar match winning performances from our bowlers too.
I just hope that these young men are not carried away by all praise & hype, and carry on their form into the world cup next year.
All the best to Gangu & his boys!
