I have been a loyal customer of Croissants for about 7-8 years and feel sad to say that their quality is dipping, day by day.
It is possible that the quality differs from branch to branch, but, for food chains this is a VERY bad thing.
Five years ago, before marriage, I used to frequent the Bandra branch and that was very good - it was one of the first places in Bombay to stock ham and cheese croissants (my favourite) and everything was excellent. The pastries were scrumptious. My favourite there **was** the Dutch truffle pastry.
However, recently, I have been going to the Borivali (W) branch and here, the pastries are quite bad. They are hard and have to be heated up, if they have to have even a little sponginess. Also, I experienced the same thing in the Juhu branch. The pastry was quite stale. Not at all like a decent Dutch truffle.
I would say that Birdys has maintained its quality better, even though, I think they come from the same parent.
Everything else is quite ok - the hygiene is good, the ambience is quite trendy (with the ubiquitous TV set). The service is quite good. Also, the croissants (in various fillings) and the quiches are quite good. The sandwiches are nothing great, quite dry, I must say.
Overall, the quality has definitely suffered over the years. I find myself avoiding the place nowadays and heading for the Monginis outlet (imagine! I used to hate Monginis pastries - but at least its not stale!)
