Last day I purchased a "Crompton Greaves SStorm2 Pedestal Fan" for one of my 16’ x 14’ bed rooms with great expectation from "Crompton Greaves". But it was in vain.
The motor is powerful and its airflow is excellent. Notwithstanding anything, in toto, the quality of construction is not up to the standard. Due to its sound pollution just like an aeroplane landing, it cannot be used in bedrooms, drawing rooms or living rooms. Several design shortfalls can also be noted: There is no substantial difference between the three speeds available. For changing the speed, one chain/cord is provided and it is to be pulled Horizontally. Pulling of chain/cord in Horizontal direction is utmost inconvenient and it will adversely affect the stability of the fan. If the cord pulls downward, it will lead to its failure/ damage. The mounting of oscillation controlling knob is hopeless and as a result, it has excessive play. Though the knob which is envisaged to rotate during the oscillating mode, due to its looseness, not rotating. It can further observe that the thin power cable provided is rubbing on the pedestal during the oscillation / swing of Fan. The quality and appearance of plastic used for Motor cover is inferior. Fan leaf, Fan guard, pedestal etc. are strong enough.
