I have always been a huge movie fan, and a critic on everything I see. Now I am working a the largest movie theater in the Richmond, Virginia area, I think this gives me a view on movies many people do not get. I hear from almost every person that walks into the theater about what they have heard or how they feel about the movie after seeing it. But as anyone would say, you dont get the full impression of a movie until you take the time to see it yourself. I had heard plenty about Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but still hadnt seen it for myself. Upon hearing that it would be leaving my theater soon, I knew that I should see it before its gone (and hey, I get to see movies for free so even better). I can definately say that I got much more then I had anticipated from this film. Totalling about 2 hours in length, entirely subtitled, I thought I would get bored and tired of reading. However, I was delighted by the references to the Oriental culture and awe-struck at the stunning visual effects compiled by the team behind one of my other favorite movies, The Matrix. Although what suprised me the most about this movie was the story storyline involved. I admit it, I am a guy and I went to see it because it had really cool fight scenes, but only half an hour of the film is action, the rest gets deep into the struggles of the main characters and into a love story that reminded me a bit of Romeo and Juliet. After seeing the movie, I agree with the numerous awards and nominations it recieved, and I am looking VERY foward to its release on DVD on June 6th. In conclusion, if you want a movie that has the action and special effects of the matrix, but the love of titanic, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is just what youre looking for!
