Crusader Gold

David Gibbins. The other day I was browsing through the book store looking for some fiction to read and I stumbled upon David gibbins, I never had read any book of the author went through the summary and found it to be interesting so bought it!

Synopsis

The plot of this novel centers on marine archaeologist Jack Howard and his International Maritime University team’s search for the greatest lost treasure of the Hebrews: the Menorah, which was looted from their temple by the Romans

The huge golden candlestick looted by the Romans in AD70 when they sacked the Temple in Jerusalem and marched through Rome in triumph. It was carried off to Constantinople. Now, nobody knows where it is. Some Jewish activists today think it survived and is concealed in the Vatican. However to be honest it was quite a disappointment when I read it. There was a lot of research done on the story however there is some problem in the way the story was told

The historical details are plentiful and detailed. It jumped from one place to another and one character to other. The story went into so much history and research because of which the whole crux was lost.I felt I am going through some lecture of a professor

The Hype they say about Jack Howard is not shown in the book, he is just an another guy (Here again maybe because I have not reads any of the other adventure of Jack by gibbins) The good thing I would say about the book is if a person has an attachment towards history and is in that field he would enjoy it thoroughly (that is one main reason I did not like it, coz my history is kinda amateur so need to be in simple for me to take it)

Readers with keen interests in history and science will find things to enjoy here, but readers looking for a good mystery with interesting characters may well be disappointed. One more thing is the website https://davidgibbins.com has some details with respect to the facts which was mentioned in the book and that is something which interested me and felt it’s really good however as I said too much of it. Overall, I wouldn’t suggest buying this book, borrow it maybe.

Cheers !
