A NEW ORIENTAL RESTAURANT IN CHENNAI.
*Ambiance:*
One long rectangular hall, split in the middle by two steps. The front
part of the hall is well lit. The interior part is a little dark. Usual
Chinese type of interiors, paper lanterns etc. I really missed some
chinky music, though.
*The Buffet on promo: **Rs. 199 / head(Rs. 24 VAT extra)
*Soup:
*Congee station, with bowls of add-ons, ranging from mushrooms to
chicken slivers and shredded prawn. Congee was lukewarm, though.
*Starters: **Fried vegetables, fish fingers
*Main course: **Scezhwan chicken rice, Veg. fried rice, Veg. pasta noodles
*Side dishes: **Chilli crab, chicken winglets, Veg. manchurian, whole beans in butter
*Dessert: **Dunno and not worth eating.
The Experience:*
The
pasta, the fried vegetables and whole beans were great. Veggie fried
rice tasted bland. Chilli crab and winglets were also quite good. But
none of the food were hot. I wonder why.
The major
disappointment was the "assorted desert counter." Ew https:// Hated it.
There were 3 items - one red color jelly, one cream color pudding and
one beige thing resembling a cake. No name tags.
The staff were
very courteous, but harried. people kept coming in and they were not
able to accommodate all of them, due to the space constraint.
*BOTTOM LINE
I
think you can eat here with your friends, but never with business
colleagues or some one you want to impress(unless the restaurant is
shifted to a bigger place!)*
