If you have seen company, then you know how the D-company flourished under Dawood Ibrahim & Chota Rajan. Now with the flick D, you will know how the D-company was actually formed.
The movie starts with the description of Mumbai-’’Mumbai sheher kabhi seedha nahi ho sakta, yaha par asmaan neeche hai aur zameen upar.’’It tells you the story of Dawood Ibrahim with the character Deshu, played by Randeep hooda. Deshu is a mechanic in Dubai, whose father is in the police. He flies to Mumbai & witnesses a murder by the Mangli gang. He is threatened by that gang to keep his mouth shut. He is beaten up by the police for not recognizing the murderer he saw. He is then searched by the rival group Hashim Bhai’s gang, as he did not open up his mouth. Hashim’s gang is one of the powerful gang. Ultimately he enters Hashim Bhai’s gang by double-crossing Mangli & killing him. Then starts his era of Bhaigiri. He gets pally with Raghav(chunkey Pandey). But there are 2 sons of Hashim who are jealous of Deshu’s success. They kill Raghav & try to kill Deshu, but some how he escapes & finally kills the whole Hashim Bhai’s gang except Hashim Bhai, an ailing old man & his godfather, who is also seen in the movie-Company. Then starts his journey & flourishing Don business, giving rise to the movie-Company.
You all must be knowing about the link of Dawood Ibrahim with the actress Mandakini, which is played by Ruksar, who is a bit tolerable. Then we have Isha Kopikar who is Raghav’s gal frend. She has got a very small role but a good act. Randeep Hooda is amazing. He does not speak much but whatever he says has power & attitude. He has a Bhai personality. Ram Gopal has given him a good start as he has given to others like Manoj Bajpai, Vivek oberoi. But Randeep may not be suited as a romantic hero. Lets wait &watch. Now we should all recognize him as Deshu & not as Sush’s boyfrend.
Chunkey Pandey has also made a good come back along with Ruksar, Goga Kapoor(Hashim Bhai). The dialouges of the movie are amazing, with this flick Ramu has made Dawood- A Hero. It has some good dialouges like ’’ Mai dhande ke liye marne ko tayyar hai, aur tu mujhe maarne ke liye marne ko tayyar hai, saath kaam karega ya marega.’’ And At the end’’ Usne crime ko business banaya, politics ko burkha pehnaya, aur underworld ko upperworld banaya.’’
The duration of movie is about 2 hrs & is most appropriate. It is not at all dragged unnecessarily. It has a good background score but not as good as Company. khud ko maar daal.... is a good number. It is not attracting much viewers but mostly the gen x, as it is not a type of movie that will cater to all kinds of viewers. It also lacks publicity. It should have been publicized like Company & an appealing song like Khallas... , should have been added. Overall an amazing film, jaane ka aur zarur dekhne ka, apun ka to pura paisa vasool ho gaya!!!
