When u read my title u must be wondering why I have mentioned Cielo as a poor mans car .... hahaah
the reason is simple Cielo is one of the best selling cars Daewoo produced in India 9 years ago, its performance, class, styling , left other cars far behind.....
After Daewoo shut shop the car prices crashed down to earth. Cielos were being sold for half thier market value some even lower...
It was a big loot thats still going on....
Cielo is one of the good, cheapest and best buys for todays poor man.Now u will ask why is that ....
The performance and luxury u get in this car is awesome and the price you have to pay would be even less than that of a maruti 800.
I bought a Cielo GLxtop model that is fully loaded and comes with ac, heater, powere steering, power windows, rear defogger, etc etc
Today after bringing that car to bangalore from delhi, all I have spent is 1.5. which is a great deal for the car, as here in bangalore, u cant get a 2000 model maruti 800 for this money and with half of the features there,
Anyways, as a second hadn car buy I would recommend cielo as its cheaper than the maruti, average may be around 10kmpl.
But comfort, performance, value for money and the experience this car offers is mindblowing at this price,
People who own a cielo and drive it know how it feels to be a proud owner, its a huge car a luxury sedan which is fun to drive, there may be problems of few spares and other items but not to worry, we have loads of parts available and there are dealers who even procure parts from Malaysia....
FYI
For people who didnt know, cielo is still sold and driven in Malaysia and all parts are available there,
so any part requirement it can be procured from there, though most of the parts are available here,
and like amny other people have pointed out, the spares are cheaper to as many local produced parts are available, I know lot of people who are running the car on gas and getting great performance and average,
i run my car on petrol thats my preference , as I dont drive around much mainly on weekends and somtimes to work zipping my car on hosur road early in the moring to electronic city.
As far as people planning to buy a second hand cielo things to watch out for are -
1) Multiple users for the car this is a common problem as cielo is a fun to drive , the people dont get it registered in their name and keep driving and selling it off int he first of the second owners name itself, in the end u may end up getting a first or second owner car on papers, but the car would have changed multiple hands, and even though the kilometer reading may be less, the car engine may be in bad shape,
2) Accidental cars, - I would recommend even though no one likes a scratched car, prefer to go for a car with original paints, as there are lot of damaged and crashed cars out there, or repiared cars using parts, which may be good to look and feel at, even drive, but are not safe and reliable, ensure if ur getting a car too cheap or good, something may be fishy.
3) Cielo haave a good engine they last nearly 2 lakhs so engine life is not the worry but ensure that the km hasve not been tampered with, its better to buy a car that shows 1 lakh plus on the reading rather than going for one that shows 75k and has been driven more,
Persoanlly I am driving a Nov 97 madel cielo GLX which has clocked 1 lakh kms, the engine is in top shape as the car has been well maintained and it is good to go for another 80k plus.
My recommendation is all those people who are planning to buy a second hand car, if ur driving is less and u want a car for weekend use or couple of times in a week, go for cielo, its a good buy,
Just sit back and think urself how would u like to see urself ....
Sitting in a luxury ac sedan with all the gizmos and looks that can leave most of the car behind, and comes with ample space ..
Or a rattling old maruti , that doesnt have any great power, looks, space and attitude, the only thing is mileage....
The choice is urs......
