Cielo was the first model rolled out by Daewoo motors India Ltd in 1995. This car is a product of a 3000 crore production facility at Surajpur near Noida (UP). Though the technology used was advanced but the initial quality of the car was poor. It seemed that people who were manufacturing DCM Toyota Trucks were making premium cars. The initial response by the Indian customers was warm but the charm faded away very quickly and the car could not live up to its reputation. By launching Cielo, Daewoo achieved many milestones. It is the first car with MPFI, auto transmission and rear defrost. Cielo started the battle royal for competition in price, features and quality.Cielo has been developed on the lines of Opel Kadett. This car is spacious with enough legroom. Its 1498cc engine gives 80bhp @ 5600 rpm. With this engine Cielo races from 0 to 160 km/h in 36 sec as compared to 35 sec recorded by its nearest rival Maruti Esteem.
