*On Saturday, March 28, 2009, cities around the globe marked the EARTH HOUR. The "SUN" published by torontosun.com published this news under the heading "Returm of the dark night". Torontos skyline was dimmed at 8.30PM as thousands of Torontonians marked the EARTH HOUR.
The lights in m, any houses and businesses went off for one hour as part of global campaign to raise awareness on global warming and climate change.
The Canadian cities joined cities around the globe in marking earth hour last night, as people in central and eastern Canada switched off their lights.Except the hospitals and street lights and places of emergency service slights were kept off for one hour. This was the gesture of people where the weather is very cold and people can suffrr with cold and cough. This was as a part of International effort sponsored by World Wild life Fund.
The one hour darkness saved electricity and energy which could be used to light at least 4000 houses for a day. This was to make people aware that the climate is changing and so also the environment. The world need to save energy for the days to come because the climate changes are going to create shortage of energy .
The glaciers are melting at fast rate due to which the water level in seas is increasing. Side by side the quantity of drinking water is decreasing. World can not do without water.Water is a source of energy as well apart from being essential for otherr daily needs .
I am sure if our country also observes such dark hour during an year India can save lot of electricity and other energy. Our Late Prime Minister, Shri LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI had given a call TO MISS ONE MEAL PER MONTH to meet the hortage of food. He himself observed it. On the same principle we can save money and raise funds to meet financial needs of certain urgent projects which get delayed for want of funds and availability of budgets. WILL MY CONTRYMEN THINK AND ACT ON THESE LINES ? I APPEAL TO ALL INDIANS in INDIA and ABROAD to donate OE DAY SALARY/EARNING to a b]NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND. *
