A Gold Winner For Sure!

Perfectionist Aamir Khan steps into the shoes of Haryana’s Legendary Wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat to deliver one of the finest performances of 2016.  Although the film has some uncanny resemblances with the plots of Sultan and Chak De, Dangal still manages to stand out with its highly inspirational storyline and awesome on screen performances by the lead actors of the story. Full marks to the casting crew! All actors blend beautifully with the character requirement of the film plot. The Haryanvi accent is well captured and delivers a natural feel to the epic narrative. Writer-Director Nitesh Tiwari has done a fabulous job both in terms of writing and direction, all culminating into a perfect 10 output.

Dangal is a story of an ambitious wrestler who dares to dream big for his daughters in the wrestling world by fighting against all odds, especially the stigma of an orthodox society that sees wrestling as a men’s-only territory. The biopic engages you with its gripping storyline and breezes through the climax with sheer conviction. We all know Geeta Phogat shot to fame by winning a Gold Medal at the Common Wealth Games 2014. Dangal still manages to keep the excitement alive with its outstanding screenplay and unpredictable dialogues. The wrestling sequences are professionally shot and lack the typical, predictable filmy feel where your wish to let the protagonist win is taken for granted.

Pritam has shed his modern, jazzy new-age outlook to give a script-appropriate musical score passionately penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. What I like the most about this film is that for the first time you will see Aamir Khan not overshadowing other characters in the film. He plays his part perfectly as envisioned by the director without hogging the limelight. The leading ladies Fatima Sana Shaikh(Geeta Phogat), Sanya Malhotra(Babita Kumari) and Sakshi Talwar deliver stellar performances and raise the bar with attention to detail. Dangal according to me is the best film of 2016 and should be considered for National Awards and India’s entry for the Oscars.  Undoubtedly a five star performer at the box office!
