Best movie of 2016

There are many movies that come and go but a few of them leave an impact on you. Dangal is one such masterpiece.

Plot:

The movie is based on the life of Mahavir singh phogat and his daugter’s Geeta and Babita phogat who have won a gold medal for India in women’s wrestling. The focus is placed more on Geeta Phogat’s journey.

Star performances:

Here comes the biggest winner of the film. I have never seen such a good bunch of talented people in one movie. It’s a performance driven movie.

For me it’s the performances by the kids that really a standout.

Zaira Wasim who plays the role of young Geeta is very impressive and so are Suhani bhatnagar( who plays young babita ) and their brother played by Ritvik Sahore. All three of them are stars in the making. They set the mood of the film light with their act!

Moving to the senior debutants, Fatima sana sheikh as Geeta is flawless. Her body language, dialogue delivery as well as her wresting sequences are perfect. Sanya malhotra who plays Babita has done an amazing job and is impressive in the emotional scenes. Aparshakti Khurrana as their brother is hilarious with his one liners and also his narration is good.

Aamir Khan as Mahavir singh Phogat is very convincing. He’s a perfectionist for a reason and he proves it again with Dangal. His physical transformation is appreciable.

Sakshi Tanwar is very good as Aamir’s wife and provides the necessary support.

Sound Track:

There’s obviously not a single catchy song but going with the theme of the movie, the title song sung by Daler mehendi is the best. Also Hanikarak Bapu is a sweet song.

Best Scenes: There are tons of scenes in the movie that are impactful but the fight scene between Aamir and Fatima is the best. Having said that, many of the scenes between the kids are funny.

Cinematography:

It is very good in most of the sequences but the fighting scenes could have been shot better.

Editing is crisp! and you really wish the screen time was more.

Final Verdict:

It’s a movie that needs to be watched. One of the best biopics this year. A complete family entertainer!
