Is all water the same?

Water is an important part of everyone’s diet. At home, we drink our own pure well water, but during the day when I’m working or for my son at school or camp we use bottled water. The choices in the supermarket are almost overwhelming. Dasani being among the less expensive, we tried it.

As someone else pointed out in a review-water is water. The ’’taste’’ is more a lack of bad taste than a taste of it’s own. Dasani tasted ok. But, still, I was curious about the difference in all the choices. So I went web site hunting.

Dasani is made by Coca Cola. Can you name one thing made by Coca Cola that is natural? I can’t! Dasani is no exception. Dasani is made by taking a local water supply(this could mean the local town water pipes) and processing it to purify and add the minerals. Most of the expensive waters come from specific springs or sources that have natural mineral content. Several of the midrange(and some store brands in my area) claim only to be real spring water without promising any specific mineral content.

So, what you choose will depend on what you are looking for. Some may want to supplement their diet with a water rich in minerals (although, most can be obtained in other ways). Others may not be concerned about processing and waters like Dasani will be fine with them. On the plus side for Dasani is it’s availability in vending machines because it is a product of a major soft drink company.   For me, I’ll be paying a few more pennies a bottle for Poland Springs or Castle Mountain both of which are spring water.
