It created lot of expectation as usual a Kamal’s movie always create. Everything was usual and the result as well. People who gets involved in a Kamalahaasan’s movie better put a masking tape on their mouth until the movie gets released and runs for a week atleast. They always talking so big and try to project the movie into the international level, and the result will be zero.
This movie is also not exceptional. We, Kamalahaasan’s fans, do not wat to see any Fancy Dress competition or a Fashion Show, where people come in different make-ups and different costumes. That’s what he has done in this movie. There is no Kamal’s talent at all in the ten roles (except Govind, b’cos it does not need any make-up gimmics). It’s the best talent of the make-up man, who has done a great job by changing his face into different men.
Thus, we can say Kamal has ruined 9 people’s character as well as money. That’s the nett result. We want him to do a little make up according to the characters and they should be differentiated in acting with dialogue delivery, mannerisms, body language etc etc what the Great Sivaji Ganesan did in the nine roles of Navaraathiri. Therefore, this is another disappointment from Kamal & Co. I don’t bet on Kamal (from Aalavandhan, Hey Ram & Kaadhala Kaadhala onwards), but I trusted KSRavikumar.
He is a good entertainer and would not give such a bad movie. But the fact is, his responsibility has been reduced since Kamal has taken over the screenplay and dialogues, which KS Ravikumar specialized in (particularly the Screenplay). Dialogues could have been given to either Balakumaran or Crazy Mohan or some other good person. Can anyone explain what is the necessity of the Kulothunga Cholan episode and what is the link between that part to the rest of the movie, except the Ranganathar Statue coming out of the water after the Tsunami Climax? Bull s*it.
Totally, Kamal always tries to portrait himself as a Genius and would force his thinking on us without even bothered about the normal fan’s wish to see Kamal in a good acting character. The Music is another flop. It has been proved several times in Tamil Cinema that the Hindi Music Directors were not successful and the tunes are not matching at all to our trend. It’s proved once again in this movie.
An ARR or Harris Jayaraj or Yuvan or even Vidyasagar could have done magic with the songs and made us tapping our feet. Ulagam Sutrum Vaaliban was having the same theme and how nice that film was made! There is a difference of Earth & Sky between these 2 movies. Utlimately, Kamal has shown India & Tamil Nadu in a bad way by showing a foreigner doing all mischiefs inside the Airport without anybody noticing and a Tamilian himself helping him by calling ’Durai, Durai’. It’s a shame for every Indian.
