Had a chance to take my almost new Maruti Zen to D D Motors for accidental repairs. The right side back door and the metallic portion above the tyre had got damaged and needed to be replaced. After the insurance party formalities of taking photographs of the car, the workshop supervisor straightaway came to the point by assessment of the parts to be replaces and their value. After that the insurance company field officer told me the amount that I will have to pay because of depreciation of based on age of car and type of parts. It was almost 25% of the total cost of the components to be replaced.
Meanwhile when the papers were being prepared, I went to meet the GM in his cabin just to ensure that all things go well since this was my first ever claim for accidental damage from any insurance company. It was a very warm welcome and a good conversation assured me not to worry about the time of delivery or quality of work. It never seemed that we are meeting for the first time.
The job card was opened and I was told that the vehicle will be delivered to me after 2 days since 2nd day being Sunday, the workshop was open but insurance person will come on Monday and again take the photograph of the car after the completion of job. Requested the insurance person to come on Sunday and do the needful so that I am able to reach my office in time on Monday. Ultimately he agreed on the additional request of supervisor of D D Motors.
I had to call their workshop at around 4pm on Sunday. I called and was informed that the vehicle is ready and I can come to collect my car. Reached there by 4.30pm. it was almost done except some paint job on the scratches.
Before taking the delivery of my car, again met the GM, he fastened the payment process, had a cup of tea with him and some sharing of experiences of life. Finally he came to see me off up to the main gate. And strictly told me – “Please don’t come again here for the purpose of accidental repairs. I don’t want you to have another accident.”
Who will not get touched by this warm welcome, friendly conversation and a wish that I do not have an accident again?
