When my dad was diagnosed with Diabetes, he was suggested to start Flax seeds(alsi seeds) by one nutrionist. It was amazing how his levels came under control with the same. He would take(and still continues to take) one spoon twice daily.
Simply has to take it with water(no cooking or soaking or roasting required). Really controls the levels well. I even cross checked in Google on its benefits. amazing seed! Go on and try it for yourself.
Here is a brief of the Nutrition Profile of Flax Seeds(known as Alsi in India) that I got from Google. Hope it helps all the diabetics out there:
Flax seeds help with constipation. The insoluble fiber in Flax seeds adds to the bulk of the stool. The mucilage(soluble fiber) helps to maintain blood sugar and Cholesterol levels.
