Adapted from the death note manga and anime by the creators TAKESHI OBATA and TSUGUMI OHBA.
The concept of the story: a person named light turner is a bored high school straite A student. One day he finds a notebook called DEATH NOTE which he finds out was owned by a shinigami, the god of death.
The person who’s name is written in the death note shal die within 40 seconds of writing the name. The cause of death can also be altered.
Given such a great plot and concept. The manga and anime were no less than a masterpiece. But the netflix original ruined it. They completely trashed the idea of the death note being a tool to cleanse the world of criminals and made it into a tool for a psychopath. Light turner, instead of usinh it to kill criminals. used it to get girls and fame.
Moreover. You will find it very hard to relate or connect to the protagonist and the supporting characters. The whole movie was a mess. And when you get to the end, you don’t even know what’s happening. The story is all complicated and does not even attempt to untangle or correct it.
Could have been better if netflix didn’t chuck out the very essence of the story.
