I am an SBI credit card customer since last two years. My payment due date is generally on 26th of every month. Recently because of being on a trip for around 15 days, I had made the payment on 13th itself, which is around 13 days prior to my payment due date.
Being a bit isolated from my routine stuffs and loosing my phone connectivity during the trip, I didnt bother much to confirm my payment receipt, for which I was also quite peaceful and relaxed with my early payment….no possibility of any loophole there.
After coming back, to my surprise, I could see some messages in my mobile from SBI card stating the non-receipt of my payment and charging late payment fee and interest charges on that. When I inquired, SBI has claimed the non-receipt of the same. I dropped a duly signed ICICI cheque.
When I checked with ICICI with the cheque no. again, they confirmed me the non –receipt of any cheque with that no. from SBI side. Thus the cheque must have been either lost by SBI itself, even before giving it for clearance. Or, it may be a game played by them claiming the non-receipt of the payment and charging all the interest and late payment charges. Thus, an early credit card payment too may be quite risky. Please think 100 times while using credit cards.
