I had had heard about a Deccan Chronicle doing well in Chennai. When it was launched in Bangalore, I saw it at the office and decided to try it when I was on a long term project there. Now that I have been reading it for a nearly a month, here is a quick update:
News: I am genuinely surprised with the quality and depth of the news as well as the mature and no nonsense way of reporting it. Important local issues are been dug up not only from Bangalore and elsewhere.
Page 3: This is what prompted me to write this piece as well as to shift from my previous newspaper. It used to be torture to be overloaded with inane news. I find that Deccan has it to the very minimum .
Business reporting: Is OK but nothing great as of now. I suppose the tieups with International Herald Tribune and with New York Times should help with the quality further.
Overall I am pleasantly surprised and am happy that I shifted to this one, though it was a big decision.
