Recently, we bought an apartment in Visakhapatnam. We were looking to handover the apartment for developing the interiors. So, we were looking out for a reputed and reliable enterprise to take care of our requirements. So, we researched a few enterprises. Of course, we leaned towards businesses that we got to know through advertisements as we did not have any experience in this area. Everywhere we checked, it appeared that things had gone wrong too many times. So, we were anxious but we knew that we had to embark on this journey. We tried to be cautious as much as we could. So, we researched what we needed to be aware before we hired an enterprise. Our key points included budget, material, reputation, reliability and line to senior management. This is our experience. Our first choice was DecorPot.
The people of DecorPot in the city were quite pleasant and open. We liked their approach. The material was essentially plywood. So that was in line with our requirement. The cost seemed to be reasonable though out of our budget. So, we wrote to their top management. The local staff offered 18% discount but the budget still did not work out. As we are all aware, when you hire someone who is an organised business, the cost shoots up like hell! Part of that significant cost is 18% GST. So we wrote a few times to the senior management requesting for a higher discount like 30% as other enterprises like HomeLane were offering that. We did not receive a single response from them. Not only that, we did not even receive an escalation from a single senior manager either. This was vital as we needed a line of sight to senior management if something went wrong and we also needed to negotiate the budget.
Anyway, the local staff told us that we should not write to their senior management as they do not like receiving emails from customers like this. They also told us that even their Area Head does not want to connect with us. This was screwed up totally. Anyway, we took a risk and said we will go ahead with the project even though it was higher than our budget. Then we got a shock. We were told that even the 18% discount has been withdrawn and they were not interested in our project. This was after we had confirmed the project to local staff. There is something very wrong with DecorPot. A management team that goes back on their commitments and does not want to engage with customers raises too many red flags. My advice is to be careful if you choose DecorPot. If something were to go wrong, their management team may not even bother to connect with you! And they seem to have serious ego issues! I know for a fact that senior management of many companies including Tatas do not behave like this, when you write an email to them! So, I am shocked that the management of this relatively new company behaved with us like this. How does anyone trust an enterprise like this?
You may think that these enterprises are providing 10 years warranty but be cautious as these warranties are tangled in legal clauses and may not help you when you need them most! Their agreements are intended to favour the enterprises and not the customers! Add to that, a management team that does not want to engage with customers. and you have a potential recipe for a possible disaster! Of course, this is our personal experience! Others may have had positive experience! Good for them!
