Have you seen “There is something about Mary”? No...Then this movie is for you.
The movie is about a guy (Saahid Kapoor), who is in search of his lost love Mary…sorry Rimi Sen. He hires Akshay Kumar to search for Rimi in Dubai. But Akki himself falls in love with her. Akki with his Hooks & Crooks tries to throw-out Saahid from his way. But he is not alone; there are few others with the same Hooks & Crooks techniques to get Rimi’s love.
The original movie is about one & half hour comedy, with some obscene scenes. Now, how to make it a full length Indian movie? Let’s add a Gangster (Om Puri), who is behind Rimi to get a codeword of a safe. The safe contains a formula, which can make someone young. Sounds like Dimond hunt of “Awaara Paagal Deewana”.
Performance wise….only Sunil Shetty has made the screen presence, which the original movie had. Akki, Rimi, Jhonny Lever, Paresh Raval are at déjà vu performance. You won’t find anything new if you have watched last few movies of them.
Saahid and Vivek are spoiling the show. You will hate them if you have watched the original movie. Saahid unlike his counter part nowhere makes you laugh.
Songs…nothing to say. Thankfully very short.
Dialogues….Good and enjoyable, but many of them are lifted from Something about Mary.
Direction….Fails to make you feel that “There is something about Rimi”, which makes everyone to fall in love with her. Unlike the original movie, this movie is much more male dominated.
In short, DHP = Something about Mary – Hollywood massala + Bollywood masaala.
It is a good that Indian movie makers are “inspired” by Hollywood movies, but why they are hesitating to give credit to the original ones.
