Plot: Shhh Koi Hai? Somebody’s out there?
Deewangee is a “copy” of Inspired from Primal Fear, the Richard Gere and Edward Norton movie.
The plot revolves around three main characters-Ajay Devgan(Tarang) who has played a psychopath Akashye Khanna (Raj Goel) a young, successful, honest, courageous Criminal lawyer. Urmila Matondkar(Sargam) a successful pop-singer.
Tarang (Ajay Devgan) doesn’t like nastiness when it comes to his childhood love with Sargam (Urmila Matondkar). Life takes a twirl when Raj bumps into Sargam (Urmila Matondkar), a beautiful and talented pop singer.
Whirlpool turn comes with the ghastly murder of music industry magnate Ashwin Mehta (Vijayendra Ghatge). The killer has stabbed the music industry baron 56 times!!!! Police catches the murderer red-handed.
Who is this diabolical killer? Suspense unfolds…
Love Ke Liye Kuch bhi Karega
Phew… Tarang has been framed in the murder of music magnate Ashwin Mehta (Vijayendra Ghatge) since the latter had tried to molest Sargam. And Sargam wants Raj to prove that Tarang is not guilty. Tarang being her Mentor and childhood friend.
Raj makes efforts to bring the guilty to book (obviously Sargam has asked him this small favour). Raj finds himself entangled in mystery that is deadly Unimaginative.
What’s that one deadly secret that could lead to the murderer? Raj become successful in uncoiling the mystery with the help of a psychiatrist played by Seema Biswaas who established Tarang as a split person for whom committing murders is just a state of mind. That means Tarang is basically a submissive person who’s not brave, but who turns into a totally different brutal, blood-spattered maniac whenever he’s agitated and disturbed by the circumstances in his life and then commits murders (for understandable reason) and not remember about them afterwards.
Law put him in a mental asylum. Before that he shares a secret with Raj that how he has used this ploy (split-personality) to proves his innocence……deadly unimaginative…..really…..!!
Will Raj Goel be able to convict the Tarang-the real and sly culprit? And most importantly will he able to save himself from a trap laid for HIM by this diabolical killer?
And after Tarang returns from mental asylum, he decides to win-back his love for Sargam, who’s by now in love with Raj.
Bol Sargam Bol
The story moves with unimaginative pace as Sargam hasn’t told Tarang that she is in love with Raj…reason…. his obsession for Sargam could get her into trouble as well.
But in the end, when he forcibly held Sargam with him to elope out of India as Raj has laid a trap to get him fixed in a police-encounter She told Tarang that she love Raj.
Unimpressive climax
While fighting with Raj, Tarang dies after falling from a Lighthouse. What? Is unexpectedness is over?

Direction: The story is written and directed by Anees Bazmee, though a inspired version , the intriguing ploys left audiences wheezing for more unexpectedness to happen . Anees Bazmee has directed Ajay Devgan in Pyar Toh Hona Hi Tha though Meg Ryan starrer French kiss inspired the movie.
Lyrics: Nusrat Badr and Salim Bijnori. A good effort. Nusrat Badr famed for his lyrics in Devdas. But Deewangee hasn’t got offbeat https://lyrics.

After Dhol Baje song from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam We’re having one more Dholi song in Deewangeee.
Yes, with songs like title-one (Lyric: ’’yeh tazagi, Yeh sadagi
yeh aashiqui, yeh deewangee, pehle kabhi dekhi nahin , dekha tujhe dil ne kaha tu hi toh hai ..deewangee’’) it is a diminutive piece... but how can you argue when the message is about deadly unexpectedness and especially when it is delivered with such good effort.
Choreographer: Vaibhavi Merchant has done a praiseworthy effort especially in songs like-Isqh khata and Dholi o Dholi.
Performers:
Ajay Devgan has proved his acting mettle once again after hit film, Pyar Toh Hona Hi Tha , Company and Legend of Bhagat Singh. He has performed split-personality character well and in some scenes managed to steal the showbiz from Akshaye khanna.
Urmila matondker is a glam doll and has Bollywood-ishstyle dances in her kitty-bag.
Akshaye khanna, though after watching promos of the film, It was sure that he is again playing the role of baddy similar to Humraaz (starring Akshaye khanna, Amisha Patel and Bobby Deol).And he has again proved his acting caliber.
Seema Biswas average performance. Clinical psychologist doing elegant social-work.
Fareeda Jalal (Akshaye khanna’s mother) accompanied his son to parties for searching bride for him. Sounds a cool Idea !!
Vijayendra Ghatge has given average performance.
Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai
Tarang has read books on Criminal Psychology, Law etc. at village-library. Smart choice! Village-library trained children for prospective jobs as a split personality…sounds a good idea but his personal library stacked with videos and books on inspired movies must have inspired Anees Bazmee.
Well, I recommend this movie to watch because it might happen that you can land up in a same situation and at least you can take inspired action. Whose knows it could happen to you….
