Alesandro Del Piero...a name that is engraved on the hearts of millions of soccer fans from all around the world , a name that spells talent to the hilt ....a name that is taken alongside legends of football .....and this can just go on.
Alessandro Del Piero :
Born :Conegliano, a city located in the province of Veneto, north of Italy
Club: Juventus
Nationality : Italy
Position : Striker
Italys most profound and unfortunate striker Alessandro Del Piero.......started playing football for Padovas youth tam and wud ya believe it , that was at the age of 8 !!!.
The first team he played for was San Vendemiano, from his home town. When he was 13 years old, he moved to Padova, where he played for two seasons and scored one goal in 14 games. In 1993, he had offers from Juventus and Milan. Piero Aggradi, the sporting director of Padova and the man who discovered Alex, decided that things should go like Del Piero wanted. He was 18 years old when he moved to Juventus.
When Alex was 22, he had to serve the Italian Army, where he stood for ten months. But all he had to do was to play football!!!! Well such a cake walk that must have been for him huh!!
In the 97/98 season, he won the award of Best Italian Player, conceived by the Players Association.
With 19 goals in the UEFA Champions League [April 3, 98 after game vs. AS Monaco] Del Piero is the all-time top-scorer in Europes most important cup. He is also a vital component of one of the top club sides in the world [Juventus] and a regular fixture in the Italian National Team but had a disastrous France 98.
Unfortunately, his careers had some moments to forget: the Euro 1996 - he played only 45 minutes during the competition -; the 1998 World Cup - he was not at his best shape -; and in November, 1998, the knee injury which took him out of football until the end of the 98/99 season. It happened one day before his 24th birthday, in the Serie A match against Udinese.
Alex had another chance to finally shine when playing for his country during the Euro 2000. But the hard critics, the competition with Totti, and especially his two missed chances on the final against France didnt let his dream come true.
But then a champion is always a champion!!! and I am sure that he can come back and show the world what he is made up of....
Go Juve go..go Del go
Forza Juve!!!!
