I was a self proclaimed Dell fan until I bought this laptop. I owned a Dell Studio 14 laptop which was such a faithful workhorse that I personally recommended Dell to all my friends and relatives. And the service was like "WOW!". 5 years down the line when I felt the need to upgrade my laptop, I didnt have a doubt about the brand I wanted. And now after 6 months. I feel sorry for myself that I was so blinded.
The specs of this laptop looks so good on paper that I was blinded and went for it. I shouldnt blame the makers because I had a chance to get a feel of this laptop at a retail outlet and I was free to make a buying decision. it looked good, had impressive specs and the seller was recommending this. so I took it home with me.
And now after using it for 6 months, I cant tell you how disappointed I am. Or maybe I can and I should. The build is sub-standard and flimsy, something you dont expect from a maker like Dell. The touch pad does everything it is not supposed to. The shell feels like it will break off or bend if you hold the laptop with one hand. and the plastic feels so *cheap*. The display is good, but I dont really understand why the screen has to heat up so much. So build quality I would rate 1/5.
I have been depressed by windows 8 and 8.1 and even thought the OS cannot be blamed squarely on Dell, this laptop seems unable to handle the OS. for no reason the laptop hangs and then you have to force restart. But then the machine wont start up unless it feels like. So my analysis was that despite its strong credentials on paper, this machine was not designed to handle Windows 8.1.
And coming to the price factor, paying so much for so worthless a machine is absurd.
So after 5 years of being a satisfied and proud customer it time to say good bye to Dell. and the folks at Dell, to beat competition, you need to deliver value. And the best value customers associate to Dell is Quality and this product from you wouldnt help you do that.
