It has a Pentium Dual Core processor. Avoid like the plague. Pentium Dual Core is an old, outdated processor, which will give lots of trouble in the future. I won’t go into much detail.

It has a 4th gen Intel Core i3, with 4GB RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and Windows 8.1. Specs are pretty good considering the price. Core i3 is a good, underrated processor as long as you don’t do anything extremely heavy. It should be able to handle most tasks you throw at it. 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD are common necessities and will suffice, but you could find more at a higher price point.
The top variant:

Similar to the middle one, except it has a Core i5 instead of i3, and a 1TB HDD instead of 500GB. But they charge you close to Rs. 9000 more for it.
Core i5 means more processing power than i3, and it should be able to handle nearly all the tasks you may want to use your computer for.
Now, please note that all of these laptops have an integrated graphics unit. This means that if you play games, it won’t be of much use at all, and you better look for laptops with dedicated GPUs from Nvidia and AMD. Good choices in this segment would be offerings from HP and Lenovo, because Dell usually overprices laptops with dedicated GPUs.
Integrated GPUs are also slightly weak when it comes to graphics processing and movie editing.
But for normal tasks like viewing HD movies, Internet surfing, emails, documents, programming etc., it is more than capable.
Also, Dell is known to be very reliable in terms of hardware, so it shouldn’t give you much trouble. If these laptops suit your purpose, they are a very good option to consider.
But do look at laptops from HP and Lenovo. They too offer some great products at competitive prices. HP laptops look better than their Lenovo and Dell counterparts, and Lenovo laptops have the trust factor and reliability of IBM(read: very reliable), and are slightly more competitively priced.

I am using this laptop with i3 processor and so for, the laptop disappoints, . It is a good looking laptop but not very sturdy. Touch pad is not very precise and that is very annoying.
With i3, I do not see much improvement over dual core that I had prior to this.Its loaded with Windows 7 and I use this lap top for office and my website related work. No perceptible improvement seen.
It could an economical choice for beginners who are looking for maximum features in minimum budget but if you have been using laptops and want a machine with finesse, try something else.

I am writing this from the Dell Inspiron 15 3542 with
4th gen i3-4005U - 1.7 GHz - 4GB RAM - 500 GB HDD - nVidia GeForce 820M - Intel HD4400 Integrated Graphics
It’s excellent for everyday use but not much use for HD games and high end graphics/video/engineering software.
