Recently I purchased Dell Inspiron 3558 Laptop on the recommendation of one of my close friend. At starting I was not having complete trust on this laptop as I was using Dell brand for the very first time but now after being a user of it, I would like to recommend this laptop to all those people who are looking for an affordable efficient laptop.
Pros:
Price, although could be slashed further considering the market competition.
Good performance for mid-end applications and home usage.
Bigger screen, not the best clarity but good enough to watch HD movies at home.
Decent battery life; should last around 3-4 hours based on usage.
Well spread out keyboard. Seperate numeric pad. User will need some initial time to get accustomed.
i3 5th Generation bundled with 4GB RAM, does a decent job.
1TB HDD(about 935GB available) for the price.
Cons:
Heavy, understandably.
Intel HD 5500 Graphics card shares onboard RAM. Hence, memory comes down to less than 3GB; even lesser with 32-bit OS.
Not suitable for high-end extensive applications. Its always price proportionate to performance.
No keyboard backlit.
No windows, need to buy/install by self; or use Linux Ubuntu(bundled).
BIOS setup different that usual machines. Needs understanding.
