Dell Vostro 1014 and 1015 are excellent products. The reason I’m so happy with it is because it fully supports and infact encourages the open source OS, linux. It is featured from time to time on ubuntu’s official website. It’s support for windows is also awesome. It can easily and swiftly run on windows 7 and 8.
About the hardware: Vostro outperforms so many other laptops that actually boast better performance. It is silent, has sufficient RAM (enough to run three copies of windows 7 at the same time), adequate hard disk (500GB), powerful enough processor (CORE 2 DUO) and an excellent graphics card (I think its nvidia with 512 MB dedicated)
Dell’s customer service is the best i’ve seen in any company. The only downside to the product is its battery. Battery life is not a problem, the life of the battery is :), i.e, it gives consistent and good battery life (2.5 - 3 hrs) but is very vulnerable. I kept it overnight one night and the battery now gives only half as it used to.. :(
Overall, its an excellent product, really amazing. It’s worth it I would recommend it to anyone.
