Delta- Okay, But Not The Best Choice Out of Mumbai

I’ve flown from Chicago to Mumbai roundtrip on Delta before, and while I can’t say I hated the airline, I strongly belive that there are much better carriers flying between the US and India. Delta provides no international service out of Chicago. As a result, one must fly from Chicago to Atlanta, and from there on to Frankfurt (recently Delta changed the Mumbai flight routing so that it goes via Paris), and from there on to Mumbai. Checkin is quick and easy everywhere but in Atlanta. Because Atlanta is a hub city for Delta, they can never seem to open enough counters to comfortably deal with all their passengers. My flight from Chicago to Atlanta was uneventful, but the B737 seemed old and worn. The seats looked ratty and uninviting, and they were pretty cramped as well, but this is to be expected on a domestic US flight. The flight attendants were okay, but unimpressive. I found that the international flights were significantly better. On the Atlanta-Frankfurt flight, I pleased to see that they were flying in a newer B767, which was far nicer than the ancient B737. Seats were comfortable, I did not feel like I had been crammed into a giant cattle-car-like B747. Inflight service was marginally better, but I seen much nicer flight attendants on other airlines. Meal service was also unimpressive, the vegetarian option was bland and overcooked, in other words it was standard airline fare. Frankfurt-Mumbai was pretty much the same. There were no personal TV screens, and the movies shown were not really worth watching. I found myself pretty bored, and was wishing that I had taken Air France. However, they did get me to Mumbai and back in one piece, and their flight were rather prompt as well. Although I would prefer Air France over Delta any day, I would still say that Delta is vastly superior to Air India and Kuwait Airways. The airline was nothing spectacular, but it wasnt absolutely horrible either, just very, very average.
