Hamlet & Lego

Shakespeare’s HAMLET; Hans Christian Anderson’s children stories and LEGO, all are the few gifts bestowed to the world by Denmark.

The seafaring Danish Vikings forged a magnificent history and developed a remarkable culture. In the eleventh century, Viking ships carried the power of the Danish monarchy to all of the coasts of medieval Europe. Greenland is the largest island in the world(is owned by Denmark ) and the world’s fist Legoland City is also in Denmark. In 1989 Denmark legalised same gender marriages and offer gay partnerships the same rights as heterosexual couples.Though Danish language is difficult and similar to other scandinavian languages, almost everone spkeaks English as it a required language in schools.

Copenhagen is the modern captivating, friendly city where your senses can roam and where there is something wonderful around the next corner, to smell, enjoy and taste.

The arts can be at the city’s many museums, galleries and theaters. At the Tycho Brache Planetarium, you can experience breath-taking natural phenomena, the family-friendly Experimentarium with its many exciting interactive exhibits.

Tivoli Gardens founded in 1843 is full of, amusements, concert performances and myriad of flowers. Of course, a visit to Copenhagen is not complete without taking a stroll or ferry ride to see the city’s most famous icon, the Little Mermaid statue, which sits on the waterfront 10 minutes north of the city centre.

The traditional Danish food is Theorebrod open-face sandwiches with a variety of toppings (fried plaice, marinated herring, smoked eel, tiny sweet shrimp, roast beef, cheese, and much more) served with a thin layer of butter on dark rye bread, nutty black bread, or soft French bread It is common to begin with seafood, move on to meat, and end with cheese. Another specialty is fried cakes with pork, egg, and onions (frikadeller); or Danish meatballs and red cabbage. But like all the European food, it is bland and if you like spicy food, then like me, carry a bottle of Tobasco.
