I have read ample of review on this and so as my comments were taken in a wrong manner in one way or the other so here is my version on Dept. of Education.
First of all let me clear, I have often said and I say it again MS is no influencer of Mass Opinion and hence we shouting and rambling on the Dept. will help none and yes but your objective of making a good hard hitting read is achieved, Whats the use??, Let me start with the
Functionality of this department.
Well simply its a Governmental department taken care of by the education ministry which devices the way for educational policies and the overall structure and methodology in which the education will be imparted there on. Basic yet very integral, So when there is a Democratic Nation as we are this department will exist till generations to come, so there is no point whether I recco it or not. To be very honest I am surprised this finding a place in a product section, to make it simple to you all. See reading 40 negative reviews of a movie you might not end up watching it right, well here you cannot do anything about it, Since its governmental and whenever you will require education this department is imperative. So It is a necessary.
It was sad to find many reviews showing a polarized NO aspect of it without actually suggesting anything concrete that can be done or so. Well recently I watched the movie where some one says You need to be in the system to change the system.
So Quickly let me get to plagues of the system, well simply Reservations Caste Based are a real problem and in this regard with everyone who all have mentioned it in there reviews, the problem doesnt end here just here is a list
1) Reservations- The aspect is all heard of and simply is a waste, well reservations kill MERIT, if at all you have to provide the underprivileged more then simply train and teach them more, bring that in and then its the merit of the student that decides.
2) Non Computerization- Do I see still long Queues outside colleges for the Admission Form and submission, Where in the world all the Information Technology has gone , Why there is not much Internet and its scope used, Any Answers or is that we people enjoy standing in Long queues and at the end of the day recieving answers like time up. Well simply if we call ourselves an IT Power why is there no Home Improvement.
3) Corruption- Is it something new I am talking about, well its become a part and parcel of todays times and we have to live with it, But it is as severe as simple it seems to be and people end up paying lakhs or rupees for getting there ward in.
4) No Strong Roots:: Many reviews and views talked about colleges and overall education policy and blaming the central govt. Thats partially true and untrue at the same time, What about the School’s Donation, Easy editing of Text Books, Examination Structure resulting in Suicidal cases, School Dropouts and Juvenile Delinquecy. The Schools come under the direct perview of the state governments so the respective Education Boards decide what needs to be done, Well Why are we not looking at these cons, Why we crib on reservations only.
5) Start from YOU:: Convent Education is a must, A Good College is a Must, Degree is a Must. I agree to that all since I am a part of the society too but is it the Education Dept. to be blamed for that, Simple DEMOGRAPHY, more population on the same resources, Horse Trading begins and in comes corruption.
So the point I am trying to make it this negatives are a larger perspectives that I have outlined and dont expect wonders from the DOE since there are many more reasons to it. We are not here to change any one nor the system will change with me penning close to 8000 words.
Now what can be done::
1) COMPUTERIZE:: This is a seperate problem altogether and requires a simple Infrastructural solution, do it no matter atleast we will be happy to end up taking education from some university, Its like you do 1 good thing out of 10.
2) Educational Content:: I said the reviews were Polarized, well I would have appreciated more solutions from everyone, What about the content our students read. Down here in UP I still remember my MSc computer modules consisting of ageold courses like Foxpro and DOS, why isnt anything is done for that.
I read a review praising Murli Manohar Joshi for implementing right history then I would like to the esteemed member and MMJ why wasnt anything done for the content I was reading, since everyone knew this education was of no use. Well simply it was a BJP government then which was more busy doing which we all know and To my amazement still the course structure hasnt changed its been 9 years and 3 governments. So please bring solutions, This can be done for sure.
3) Redundancy Removal:: B.Com 3rd Year people and M.B.A people have same course, and I find it amazing to see post graduate people referring Under Grad material, why is that. Atleast this can be done, get in researchers ask them to evaluate and revise the course contents, it will help.
I think I should stop here because its no point writing huge stories of personal as well hitting the system since we know you know that Govt. might not be even aware of Mouthshut.
The point I made there is Reservations and other big problems will always loom large no matter what government comes it will be there political agendas first, But the solutions I suggested are Neutral aspect and affect the Student directly whether he is a SC/ST , a Hindu/Muslim, You need to Eat the Apple first to check whether its good or bad, then only we decide whether to throw it or to keep it in the refridgerator, So improve Dept. of Education improve the Education first.
