WOWW!! I am sure that everyone of you have heard atleast one of the songs of this magnum opus! And I am even sure that u have liked it...!!
The album consists of ten tracks of which nine have been scored by Ismail Darbar and the Devdas theme has been scored by Monty.
Let us go on with the review of each song:
Track One: Silsila yeh chahat ka
Sung by:Shreya Ghosal and chorus
The song is beautifully sung by Shreya Ghosal whose voice haunts the ears. The beginning of the song is absolutely gripping with the tananadum... tananadum which gives a rhythm to the song. And yes.. the sound of clouds rustling is wonderful!
The lyrics of the song are clad with meaning. The words Is diye sa jal raha mera rom-rom rom aur jiya.. ab aa ja re mere piya! WOW!! Arent they really great?!!
Track Two: Maar daala
Sung by: Kavita Krishnamurthy, KK
This is the courtesans song which is elevated to a very high level by Kavita Krishnamurthys soothing voice. Yet, check out KKs participation in the song, I bet if it does not leave shivers on your body!!
The lyrics of the song are equally beautiful. If I had to give one particular line in the song which is beautiful, I will have to type in the entire song because each and every word of it, is beautiful!!
Track Three: Bairi Piya
Sung by: Shreya Ghosal
Issshhh... This phrase has become very popular these days all thanks to Shreya Ghosals amazing voice, and the way she goes isshh....
As far as lyrics are concerned, I remember one particular line which goes Tu door jo tha to paas hi tha, ab paas hai to door hai kyon, na jaane! What a poetic creation...
Track Four: Kaahe Chhed Mohe
Sung by:Kavita Krishnamurthy, Pt. Birju Maharaj, Madhuri Dixit
This is a typical classical song which is a treat to the ears. Madhuri Dixit has recited some verses, and she does it beautifully. The song is a kathak-based song and just check out the closing part of the song.. wow!
Track Five: Chalak Chalak
Sung by: Udit Narayan, Vinod Rathod, Shreya Ghosal
This is another good fast-paced number with brilliant vocal support by the three singers. The beat of the song is simply shoe-tapping.
Track Six: Hamesha Tumko Chaha
Sung by: Kavita Krishnamurthy, Udit Narayan
Simply great! The song has a soul of itself, the song is set at the moment when the two lovers are departing and the music make this song, my favourite in the album!!
Track Seven: Woh Chaand Jaisi Ladki
Sung beautifully by: Udit Narayan
UDIT NARAYAN is on his best in this song! Just check out the way he sings the opening line, it really haunts you. The song actually traces the graph of the movie itself, starting off with a happy mood and towards the end, very sad.
Track Eight: Morey Piya
Sung by: Jaspindar Narula, Shreya Ghosal
There may be some reason to this song, but actually, when I heard it for the first time, I did not like it at all. Jaspindar Narula just screams at the top of her voice. The lyrics however are a strong side of the song.
Track Nine: Devdas Theme
The background score by Monty is the best instrumental theme ever!!!! The sound of the horses whip, the rumbling of clouds... all of them are simply wonderful!!
Track Ten:Dola re Dola
Sung well by Kavita Krishnamurthy and Shreya Ghosal, KK
Wow!! This is yet another good song, wherein both Kavita and Shreya display a splendid performance.
The pros:
The album has brought out a promising singer, Shreya Ghosal. The innocence of her voice suits Paro beautifully.
Kavita Krishnamurthy, KK, and Udit Narayan make this album worth listening.
Some really good music
The cons:
- The songs are very very heavy, difficult for a normal listener to sustain! The beats, the trumpets, they all are just too heavy for a normal listener to grasp and enjoy.
Thats what I thought of the album. waiting for uer comments!! BYEE!!!
luv, aadi
