I visited Dharamshala in 2010. I reached here by car from New delhi. You get hired or shared cars from New Delhi or from Kalka. Its a small village/town hill station. It receives snowfall during winter. And the snow covered hill station looks serene and purely virgin. It looks like someone had painted a picture on a canvas. Its pictorially beautiful.
There are quite a few hotels and resorts in Dharamshala. We stayed in a hotel where Malika Sherawat stayed while she was doing her Swayambar. It had a swimming pool and a games room. It was the biggest resort in Dharamshala. The tariff was also not very high. I suggest you to stay in Mcleodgang, a village above the dharamshala town. Its a walking distance of about 8 minutes.
You get very pretty looking cakes and pastries, sandwiches, burgers fruit juices in various confectionery stores. The items sold there were very low priced yet very tasty and fresh. A must try.
There are many tourist spots in Dharamshala. But what attracted me the most was the cricket stadium. Being a cricket addict, it attracted me more.
