A month ago >> C’mon ya u should learn to be decent, why do you scream inside theatres? It’s so indecent…

I remember me saying this statement, but I cant control, I am watching the latest blockbuster “DHOOL” on the first day, black ticket. The theatre is streaming with papers and whistles and screams from both genders, the atmosphere is absolutely explosive. Two weeks later I see the same film, mind this is the first Tamil film that I’ve seen twice for two reasons:

  1. The film is so good

  2. Our class girls were coming to the film

The film is very very punchy. The story is village based, infact I hate village based films and love sci-fi but this is an exception. Vikram (Aarumugam) looks so manly with his Aruva Meesai (moustache) and his body physic is excellent. Acting is exceptional and stunts are enticing. Jyothika has to keep her weight on control and is the only blemish on the package. Reema Sen looks very sexy and takes care of the glamour stuff apart from a brief appearance of Shakeela. The villan role is done by a female of suitable countenance. The story is simple and lucid, Vikram wants to see his locality minister in order to close down a chemical factory which ruins the river water. But he gets entangled with a mafia gang and later finds that the gang is associated with minister. How he fights back is the rest of story. The director has cleverly included a volley of punches then and there to keep the audience rocking. Comedy by Vivek is also good, especially when he tries to show off to Reema Sen as a body builder.

All the songs make you dance and whistle, blame it on VidhyaSagar. Special mention to the song “Indhadi kapakelenghe” which is sure to rock ur senses. The song “Madurai Veeran thane” being a folk song may not appeal initially when you hear it but it is actually during a fight sequence, a first for Tamil films and you’ll sure like it if you watch it. The title song also takes you off your seat. The story may not appeal, but it is the tactics used by the hero in his endeavor and his acting that make this film run for 100+ days. Overall this is a very entertaining film that can be seen more than a time. Action is one of the best in Tamil films especially when x-ray photography is used when the hero breaks a rowdy’s arm.

But what have I gained for the 50 bucks I spent (black)? There is neither moral nor anything to gain except for entertainment. This is just another cinema in which the hero performs all the hot stuff whereas the people stay back, watch and clap their hands … The film lacks moral, feel and sentiment but makes up for these with its bundles of punches. And this is why a decent movie watcher got transformed into a whistler, screamer and dancer inside the theatre !!!

The conclusion is … ONLY FOR ENTERTAINMENT. NO PAIN & NO GAIN.
