Dhoom2 ..or the Doomed 2

An international thief, and his sexy accomplice, who is interested in only priceless goodies. A tough cop who ’senses’ his each move. Sounds great! almost like a desi version of the movie Entrapment. But alas, With all due credits to the actors of the movie, this movie does not give them justice, in terms of their capabilities, or in terms of the plot itself.

WARNING: this review contains somespoilers.

lets talk about the doomed two actors - Hrithik and Abhishek ( there are more...but doomed 2 sounds somewhat cool)

Hrithik as mr. A aka ’funny guy ( thats what he calls himself) a self proclaimed best thief- dances good, looks great (sports atleast 6 different looks), and great action scenes too. but is this role as memorable as the one enacted by john in dhoom1?. he lacks that cunningness and ’innocently wicked’ look of John. john’s bike scenes seemed realistic, atleast he wore a helmet!!.

Abhishek as ACP ajay, is made to look like a tapori on a holiday!!..His attire flowery shirt, unkempt stubble, and his’iam cool too’ look does not gel with his character, making him look like desperate to join the ’sexy’ bandwagon. half sleeve shirts with flowery patterns makes him look like a distant cousin of ACP Ajay from dhoom 1. ...my word to abhishek ..."Dude, you are cool, you dont need to dance like others, and wear those stupid clothes to make yourself look cool, and make a fool of yourself. " but then what could he do, director was extra generous and careful to make Hrithik look larger than life. gave him 6 different looks. and with Hrithiks dance and action abilities abhishek never had a chance.

Now about Aishwarya ( Sunehri), "she was like, overacting ..like" well...she over did that "like" bit in her dialogues, and under did in her wardrobe department, exposure is ok, as an introductory scene. Even in james bond movies you dont see women in 2 pieces through out the movie, its not a swimwear episode of fashion tv for gods sake!. unless it caters to people who have not subscribed to FTV. She gets 3 out of 10 for her acting.

Uday Chopra as Ali, as Abhisheks side kick, well makes his ’presence felt’ has put on umpteen kilos since dhoom 1, and is not afraid to show it. He is now in police force and Is still hoping to marry every single woman he meets, also dreams of having kids...3 or was it 4 kids!!, and does not forgets to thank ’mummy’ for everything ( can I hear someone saying ’cho chweet?’). dialogues not as funny as the original, but I must admit, he is funny on couple of occassions.

Bipasha, - as twin sisters Shonali and Monali ( Double role...yes!!) why??...because director felt, shonali the police inspector wont look believable shedding her clothes on the beaches of fiji.. so he creates a twin sister Monali...and boy!!...does she shed some clothes, actually thats all she does!!

I wish there was a strong focussed story line like in dhoom1, one good cop, one intelligent thief, who would rather die than being caught. Abhishek in the end lets Hrithik go scot-free. reason?... the world believes he is dead, so no point in arresting him!...digest that?!!!...sorry to give out the climax.

All in all....if you guys are expecting this movie to have a longer shelf life, it does not. will fizzle in 3 weeks. It does not live up to expectations created by Dhoom1.
