In the college days, most of us have seen our friends putting up plays during Annual gatherings. Any guesses what the most common theme was ?
It was Spoofing. Many of the bollywood directors also have tried spoofs in different ways.But no one dared to spoof 4-5 blockbuster films together. "Dhoondhte reh jaoge" is a very sincere attempt on these lines, and most importantly - It succeeds. Let me tell you one story.
Just read the script below - The Spoof:Jai and Veeru are going on a mission to Ramgadh. Sounds like Sholay ? .. Ah .. then lets change this. Jai has a dysentery problem so he stays back. :-). Now Veeru goes to Ramgadh and as expected, falls in love with Basanti. Gabbar does not like this and he kidnaps basanti and goes all the way to Punjab.
One morning, Basanti hears a mandolin soundcoming from the farms. Its apna Veeru (dressed like Shahrukh of DDLJ), who is playing the tune of "Tujhe dekha toh yeh jaana sanam". During this ever so lovely song , Gabbar comes from nowhere and Kidnaps Basanti again and decides to take her to Lahore. (Hahha :D).Veeru now tranforms into Tarasingh of Gadar and goes all the way tom Pakistan.
In between when all this gadar fight is happening in Lahore, Thakur (Sholay fame) comes with a proposal of a Twenty-20 match between India and Pakistan which will decide whether Basanti belongs to Gabbar or Veeru. Gabbar and Veeru agree on playing a T20 match. In the end, India drives to the way of a Glorious victory to take Basanti home. Actual Plot I could not stop laughing while seeing this.
Hey... but this just one of the plots in the movie. Actually in our Film Kunal Khemu and Paresh rawal make a attempt to make a greatest ever flop film with the above script. and they cast a superstar played by Sonu Sood for it. The story of the movie is all about why these guys want to make a flop movie and how different characters are involved in that. This is handled in a very hillarious way. There are plenty of gags in the film , making this ones a laughathon.
I think the following one was best of the lot - Scene at Lahore- Tara Singh to Gabbar : Kaminey mein yahan se Basanti ko leke hee jaunga. Btw, Pani ka pump kahan hai ? :D Performances: All actors have performed to their potential. Paresh Rawal was Hillarious. Kunal Khemu is Outstanding, Sonu Sood - watch him playing a film actor. He is very much likeable. Soha - Amazing .. she is surely a Tabu in the making. and it was pleasure to See Johney Lever back again.
The music is passable. Couple of songs gel well with the mood. On the whole director Umesh Shukla emerges as the winner. The movie is a fun ride. All you have to do is not to carry your heads into the cinema hall. Just do this and you will "Haste Reh Jaoge" :) - Prashant Sonawane
