I am not much into movie reviewing...but I love attempting different things and hence the review.
Dil Chahta Hain{hearts desire} will always be a special movie for me.
This movie was treated to our friends by my soul sis and me on our 16th birthday!!
Hence it has that special place in our hearts.
Coming to the movie...
~~~The Plot~~~
Okay ... I am revealing the story assuming that youll have seen the movie atleast once{also assuming that hence I wont get shoe marks on my face for doing that...hehe}
The story revolves around the lives of three best buddies... Aakash, Samir and Siddharth.
They are hep ex-collegians who are more into partying and discoying{err...bad spelling there} rather than thinking about their career.
Each one has a love story of his own.Aakash falls for Shalini ...much to realise that she has a fiancee{just like any other bollywood film}
Samir falls for Pooja {nothing new about that.}
Hmm...but there is certainly some new trend about Sids story{trend because this concept was copied for Ek Chotisi Love Story...or was it that DCH copied it from there?}
This trend was that he falls for a lady much elder to him{this is where apni Dimpu a.k.a Dimple Kapadia comes in}.Like any other movie, problems crop up, there is a fight among the best buddies and also a much required make-up{to send the audience cheerfully home} at the end.
~~~The Main Cast~~~
Aamir Khan as Aakash
Saif Ali Khan as Samir
Akshaye Khanna as Siddharth
Preity Zinta as Shalini
Sonali Kulkarni as Pooja
~~~The Performances~~~
Actually speaking each actor/actress was suited for his/her role.I didnt feel as if someone has overacted or exaggerated his/her performance.
Preity Zinta especially deserves a mention because I feel no one could have done this role better.Good to see Dimple Kapadia after a long time.
~~~Bonjours Analysis~~~{Read at your own risk...hehe}
1.0 Why watch DCH?
- The movie involves a different concept of three different love stories of the bestest{err..bad spelling again} of buddies.There are no runaways from home, rich- girl poor-boy stuff, children lovers -parents villains concept.
2.Thankfully...college guys look like college guys{nothing against Srk fans}
3.The costume designing and dress designing {any difference between the two...I seriously dont know...}was awesome.It represented the exact trend of style in the hep colleges when the movie was released.
4.Values of friendship, respect and patience among pals can be learnt.
1.1 Why DCH failed to capture the masses?
1.Most of India is unknown to such hep life style and hence fails to capture the mindset of the masses.
2.It was released after Lagaan and people expected a completely different concept like Lagaan
Flaw:
Aakash poroposes to Shalini in the end in front of 100 people!!
How unrealistic!!{par kya kare...apna hindi movie hain yaar}
~~~Songs~~~
I tap my feet to the rhthym of Koi Kahe and Rockin Goa.
When on a nature trip Kaise hai yeh rut is played in the car.
My sad mood is accompanied by Tanhayee and when I just want to have a gala time I listen to Woh Ladki hai Kahan{ But I dont like this song much}
Hmm...Jaane kyon is also a nice number.
~~~Ending refreshment~~~
