For all those who are wondering why I chose such a title I have an explanation: I walked in first day first show for Dil Chahta Hai. From the promos it seemed a different kind of film and the title of the movie also suggested that we are in for something different. But being a flick from a young debutant director I was kind of speculated about the film thinking that it would be a love story with some mirch masala in it. But it turned out a really awesome flick. So I chose this title. Now let?s get on with the film.
Story/Plot:
The film is a story about three friends, their happenings in life the ups and downs, changes in life, separation between them, coming back together. The film starts of with Samir (Saif Ali Khan) and Sid(Akshaye Khanna) meeting after Sid calls him in the hospital becoz Tara (Dimple Kapadia) has been admitted to hospital. Samir and Sid recollect their memories when the three of them were in college and then the flash-back starts (and so does my changing from past tense to present tense?). The three of them are in the same college and are best of friends. At their graduation party Shalini (Preity Zinta) enters in the picture and Aakash (Aamir Khan) falls for her. But she turns out to be already having a fiancée and things go wrong for Aakash. Samir is currently having a girl friend Priya (Suchitra) whom Aakash always makes fun off. He breaks of Samir and Priya?s relationship becoz of misunderstanding created by him between the 2.
Now Tara Jaiswal (Dimple Kapadia) who is a divorcee and an architect comes in to picture and we have Sid who falls in love the old women but does not confess to her at start. The trio moves on to Goa to freak out and Samir as usual falls of for Christine who?s from Swiz and bad luck for Samir he turns out to be a crook. Pooja(Sonali Kulkarni) comes into picture and Samir and Pooja?s marriage has been arranged by their parents. Both oppose this and then they become friends but Samir as usual starts loving Pooja later.
After sometime on Tara?s birthday Sid tells Aakash and Samir that he loves the old lady Tara Jaiswal. Aakash as usual makes fun of Sid and Sid cannot bear and it and slaps Aakash on face. The time comes when Aakash splits up with Sid and Samir is the only joining link between the two. Aakash moves on to Australia to help his dad in his business, Samir joins his dad?s computer business and Sid goes to Kasauli. Aakash meets Shalini again in the flight and they become friends and roam around in Australia and they fall in love with each other. Rohit (Ayub Khan), Shalini?s fiancée comes to Australia becoz he?s jealous of Aakash. By the time Aakash and Shalini had already fallen in love with each other but they don?t confess. And then Shalini and Rohit are gonna get married and come to India. Aakash too comes back to India and goes on to propose to Shalini in her marriage with Rohit (Bechara!!!). Aaksh and Shalini come together and so do Pooja and Samir.
Now the flashback gets over and we have conversation between Samir and Sid going on. By the time Aakash is going to his office he sees his college and remembers the days that the trio used to spend with each other. He cherishes the time they used to spend together and then contacts Samir to talk to Sid and apologizes for his mistake. Things go great and they three come back to each other. But by the time Tara is dies and Sid is left alone. But in the climax scene in again in Goa Sid finds a girl for him too??

?Mein soch raha tha?Agar hum waise na mile hote jaise hum mile hai..agar mein tumhe kahin aur mila hota..to kya hum aise hote jaise ki hum hai?aur agar hum aise nahi hote jaise ki hum hai to kaise hote..agar tum mere liye kuch aur sochti?agar mein tumhare liye kuch aur sochta to kya hota..mein kya bol raha hoon....?
Performances:
Aamir Khan: Is as usual great in the role he plays. Be it the one liners or the emotional scenes. He is one of the finest actors in the film industry. Although he doesn?t quite look like a collegian but with that funky hairstyle and cool chin beard he looks cool and acts cool too.
Saif Ali Khan: Bollywood discovered a new comedian in the form of Sail Ali Khan. His expressions , voice, dialogue delivery really make us laugh all throughout the movie.
Akshaye Khanna: He does his act well too. I very much liked him in the scene when he slaps Aakash.
Preity Zinta: She looks cool, acts normally shows her expressions well in the song tanhayee.
Sonali Kulkarni: Is normal she had a pretty small role so not too much can be expected from her.
Dimple Kapadia: She does her act well of being a old women who cannot accept Sid. Frankly speaking I found the scenes between Akshaye Khanna and Dimple to be boring although she played her part well.
The performances of Rajat Kapoor, Ayub Khan, Suchitra Pillai in their small roles were pretty good. All acted well and it cannot be regarded as a one actor movie.
Conclusion: All in all a really fantastic movie and its really worth to have a VCD or DVD of this movie. Now that Farhan?s first movie was a classic lets see that can he repeat the same magic of DCH in Lakshya??....and as usual Comments eagerly awaited.....
