It has certainly been quite some time since this film was released as was the music. But it is quite uncanny, that the music is heard even now. The music given by the talented trio Shan , ehsan and loy is tremendous. It suits the mood of the film throughout. All the songs in this film have a certain edge to it, due to which each song stands out.
My most favorite number here, is Koi Kahe, kehta rahe. The tempo, the energy symbolised by this song is tremendous. This song peps you up even now. Shankar Mahadevan , the tremendously talented singer that he is really peps you up .And the other 2 singers , KK and Shaan have given him perfect company.
The second favorite song of mine here is Jise dhoondta hoon, sung with pizazz by Shaan and Kavita Krihnamoorthy. This was a teasing number, and the music has been lived upto by some fabulous singing.
Jaane Kyon sung by Udit and Alka has its own charm too. The lyrics for all these songs are very cool too.
Then we have Kaisi hai ye ..a light song, sung quite well by Shriram. It has an idyllic feeling to it. Stuff that dreams are made of.
Tanhayee, sung excellently by Sonu Nigam, is a good song, but I somehow I had the feeling (perhaps because SOnu has sung it) that it is similar to Tu hi tu from Dilse.
All in all, in times like these when good music is a rare phenomenon, mmusical albums like Dil Chahta Hai are like manna from heaven.
So far, these boys havent disappointed much . The music from Mission Kashmir was good, and they have given a classy song in Rockford (aasman ke baad). I do hope they continue this paramparaa .
