Dear Maniratnam,
You are brilliant. You are a do-gooder. You are the champ. But please stop making these types of movies for the sake of innocent bollywood lovers. They love to watch a pure drama in which the actors & actresses would weep for their love. They will watch a totally great movies(????) like Hum aapake hai kaun or K3G. You tell me is there any story in these melodramatic movies ? Why do you bother us by making movies like Dil se? We want movies where there will be no headache, no brains to apply for. We don’t see very very great cinematography (I know how much efforts you & Santosh Sivan would have taken to shoot on the train, the chase in Delhi internals & an unendable list) , Santosh might love to play with the shadows but who cares ? The cinematography throughout the movie would be excellent but sorry, we are blind & can’t see anything other than Shahrukh’s fake tears. Rahman’s brilliant background score & songs (which can’t be made by any chance) would make no impact on us........people here want only the answer.....why did Shahrukh & Manisha die in the end ? Farah Khan would have choreographed out-of-box but we don’t watch it. We want to see Salman dancing, making perfect right angles of his hands. Gulzar’s lyrics "muze maut ki god me sone de" would have deep meaning but we like the lyrics "ek ladaki, ek ladaka, dono mile, dil dhadaka". Man, what are you doing, people here are not grown ups but are children, next time make something sensible, larger than life movie. That will be a super-duper hit.
You say this a love story, but you haven’t made Shahrukh & Manisha make dance around trees nor you have made Manisha saying "dosti pyaar hai". How could we endure movie without this ? & why did you go to Ladakh to make a movie, can’t you go to Switzerland ? & what is CBI doing in the mid of your movie ? Aren’t they supposed to come at the end ? & not a single pet in the movie ? Come on, dogs are of utmost importance. & not a single day other than Independence day in the movie ? Where is valentine’s day or friendship day ? & how come SRK proposed Manisha without saying "someone somewhere is made for me" earlier in the movie. & while proposing Manisha not a single leaf is shaked, what is this Mani ?
People here are not able to understand what the ultimatum is. How can actors die at the end ? They both should have got married, Shahrukh should have killed Manisha’s comrades. Tiranga should have been waved by Shahrukh & finally Preity should have died in all this, leaving SRK & Manisha alone.
Next time go to Karan Leela Aditya Badajatya before making any movie & take some tips from them.
