Another one of those over-rated films!

It was just last year, that I watched DDLJ......for the first time, can you beat that guys? But really after watching the film, i did not regret my decision of watching the film earlier......instead after watching the film I thought to myself as to what was so exceptional about the film that it went on to become one of the biggest hits in BOLLYWOOD history.....and if this was not enough it received\won all the awards at all the major award functions, it was loved by the audiences world-wide and also by the critics.......and now the film is considered a ’’CLASSIC’’.But then with so many things going for it why didn’t I love the film or why didn’t I feel the same for the film, as so many others did.The simple reason for that being, i hate such SACCHARINE ROMANCE.......and I can never ever like a thing which is over-rated\hyped or which is unnecesarily praised and that is the reason I hated DDLJ, and that is the reason I hate SHARUK KHAN.’neways I was never enmoured by the love story of RAJ-SIMRAN.....so as to fall in love with it.ADI CHOPRA’s DDLJ is typical fairytale cinema......which has all the possible ingredients in the book to attract the audiences......and that is what the film did so successfully.

The story was typical of Bollywood romance.......rich spoilt boy falling in love with a girl, but the girls father is strictly against their marriage or for that matter their love.......but later on love triumphs, as in all love stories. And the two unite.....

DIRECTION:I really hate ADI CHOPRA’S style of film-making......both his films DDLJ and MORE-BATEIN sucked. He quite obviously is influenced by his dad’s film and also SOORJ BARJATYA......and that very well reflected in the way he presented and approached the film. The first half-was so boring, and though the film pick grips in the second half......he spoils it by putting in all those shaddi-sangeet-antakshri scenes, are these scenes such a must?I didn’ find any novelty or freshness in the story or treatment of the film.....still he went on to receive all the possible awards for his efforts in making this classic. And that is what encourages other directors to come up with more and more such kind of sugary films.SOORAJ BARJATYA started the trend of such kind of escapist films.....and from then on every one started making films which revolved around around our sanskriti, bado ka aadar....(But these things are there in you....or which you inherant from your elders, you cannot learn it by watching films)and every possible gimmick to make the film a success. And that is the reason I detest such kind of films....they do not serve any purpose.

ACTING:SHARUKH KHAN as RAJ......was at his over-acting best, though many people ’ld tend to differ coz his performance was loved by all and sundry.Infact girls adore him in the film......and dreamt of a man like RAJ, in their life after watching the film.So much for wishful thinking. He was soooo irritating in his scenes with his POP......and also the way he addressed KAJOL as ’’SENORITA’’.....god this man makes me sick with his antics.

KAJOL as SIMRAN was pretty good in the film......though I have seen her giving better performances in other films. She too went over-board in a few scenes.....like the one towards the end when she shouts at Sharukh’’Maine kaha tha na tumse, blah blah.....’’but over-all she was good.

ANUPAM KHER, AMRISH PURI, FAIDA JALAL.....are all fine actors so they do justice to any role given to them.HIMANI SHIVPURI......was the most irritating of all......an what was up with MANDIRA BEDI......i am sure she is capable of doing better than what she did in this film.

MUSIC:Music was the high point of the film.......as it is in most of the YASH RAJ films.JATIN LALIT came up with a splendid score.....and they can be given credit for the films success.A hit score helps in making a film a success.....and that is what songs like Tujhe dekha to, Na jaaaane mere dil ko, Zara sa jhoom lo mein......did to the film. Many people went to see the film again coz of the music. So JATIN LALIT deserve loads of credit for the films success.....

The dialouges were also such a big let down......esp the ones between FARIDA JALAL and KAJOL, and also the one which Sharukh says to Kajol’’TUM apni zindagi ek aise aadmi ke saath kaise bita sakti ho zisse tumne dekha bhi nahi’’.How many times are we going to listen to the same dialouge?

So guys DDLJ is on my list of most hated films......though I am sure many wont agree with me coz DDLJ, is one of the most loved hindi films. But that does not help me change my opinion or dislike for the film.DDLJ is considered a modern day classic.......and to that I only have to say that the standard of hindi films has really gone down, coz only then we will have to consider films like DDLJ AS classics. The only film which I consider a CLASSIC of this decade is LAGAAN......coz it was in a league of its own, it broke the norms of typical hindi films and most importantly held a message.Sorry but DDLJ is not for me.......though no offence to people who love the film, this is just my opinion about the film.
