I opted for DishTV last year on the assumption that over a period of time, this would be more economical as the local cable rental comes in the range of 250 -275. In addition I get digital quality picture & sound.
As I knew my subscription would expire mid sep, I started to put an effort to reach dishtv from Aug,
UNfortunately, they only have a toll free number which can not be reached from mobile . I also tried numerous times calling that toll free number from BSNL lines but could never reach the number, .
today Finally I had to make a STD call to Noida to talk to them . Now I realise that to have Zee+Star+Sony+NDTV (around 30 channels) I end up paying 364 + taxes. this is daylight robbery,
I also was told today that my STB box would not support any other DTH operators like Tata Sky. This is contrary to what was informed at the time of purchase.
Whats more shocking is that If I wish to add another channel i.e EtV kannada, I end up paying 53 + tax more per month. ie 425 PM
I think it is time that Government (TRAI) should intervene anc come to the rescue of consumers who are grossly take for a ride under various pretext.
Conclusion
DishTV misleads and cheats it consumers . (STB box was sold saying it would support any DTH operations but they secretly upgraded the software (automatically downloaded) which prevents other Conax cards from working)
they do not have any package which is practical, this is to suck money from the customer under the pretext of choice of packages.
you can never reach thier Toll free number (even from BSNL)
Customer service do not no how to behave and talk.
the only hope I have now left is tata Sky.
