Portable, Easy to Set Up; but Poor Customer Care.

At the outset - let me tell you that I am NOT A GIVING A TECHNICAL review of the product with any in-depth knowledge of the underlying technology. So what I write here under may be technically incorrect - the company may have different specs as compared to what I am making them out to be.

I have been a DISH TV user since June 2007 (that’s about 06 months now) and I have the following to submit :-

  1. PORTABILITY - The Dish TV set is very portable. I, being an ARMY OFFICER, have found this to be the ONE REDEEMING FACTOR - which justifies purchase of the set.

  2. SIGNAL STRENGTH INDICATOR - the Dish TV console has this feature, which is ABSENT IN TATA SKY - the nearest competitor. This means, Dish TV can be installed by ANY USER - and DOES NOT REQUIRE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO SET UP. Another major advantage, contributing to the portability.

  3. CUSTOMER SERVICE - VERY POOR. Customer care is very bad, and the executives are merely college kids who don’t seem to know much about anything. Don’t bank on them to help you out of sticky situations.

  4. AUDIO/VIDEO MISMATCH - Sometimes (quite often, of late), I have noticed the Audio and Video of NatGeo and some other channels isn’t matched - that is to say, it is out of sync. Customer Care is unable to help on this account - the assistance offered to me was advice to swich off and switch on the receiver !!

OVERALL - I’D say GO FOR DISH TV if you want DIGITAL QUALITY signals, Wide variety, and most important of all EASE OF SETTING UP AND PORTABILITY. The sofware is GOOD and keeps updating itself. OVERALL A GOOD BUY. I HAVE NO REGRETS.
