DTH - in India has revolutionised the tv viewing experience altogether.Now we dont have to sit at the mercy of the cable operator who dosent even know the full form of HDMI(HIGH DEFINITION MULTIMEDIA INTERFACE).Now, we see what we desire to see.I became the proud owner of the 2nd DISH TV set top box recently.First, was bought on the ocassion of diwali in year 2007 when DTH was in the initial stage of its developement and we had only one million subscribers.Now, we have plenty of choices TATA, AIRTEL, BIG, SUN, VIDEOCON, DD DIRECT.But I must admit that Dish stands apart .It is running without giving any kinda of trouble since last 3 years.And considering the fact that we are couch potatoes who just love their idiot box that just cant imagine life without it.Getting into the technical details now , I will evaluate it under various headings , so that you must have an idea of the real stuff clearly.
Hardware:- It consists of a set top box(ZENEGA), a subscriber identification card, mini satellite dish, 15 meters connecting cableMade in USA), a remote control, A/V Connectors, 2(AAA)Batteries.
Installation:- It is done by the company representative and it is absolutely free of cost, or you may say included in the complete package.
Programming:- Direct feed from the satellite certainly has its benefits, crystal clear picture and stereophonic sound add to the viewing experience.One can select from various packages including regional channels and can also watch movies on demand by paying a nominal amount ranging from 10 INR TO 25 INR.
Recharge Facility:- This has a few bits of problems I tried recharging from the online portal as well as mobile cash cards but either the payment gateway is too overloaded or sometimes the mobile network is too loo that you fail to recharge .It has an option to recharge again with checking the box saying "I have a pending transaction which failed and would like to recharge again".
Customer Support:- It is fantastic although we never faced a problem regarding the STB but we did had an interaction with the staff regarding the recharge failure.The query was promptly answered ans the solution provided did worked.
In the end I would like to conclude that "WISH KARO, DISH KARO".The service stands by its marketing slogan.I hope my review will help my readers to make a better choice in future.Thanks
