I just visited Diveagar with my family and let me tell you it’s a awesome experience. We started from Thane in the morning @ around 8:00 Am.(I generally do not go anywhere without proper plan as well as without searching on google the best place to eat, stay as well as sight seeing. however, this time it was an impromptu trip which I did not plan in advance and took my family including Mom and Dad with me in my car.)
This time me and my wife had decided not to plan but to travel and experience the thrill in it.(However, we were ready to shell out more buks as it is unplanned trip, for stay). We had just decided that we will visit Diveagar, Shrivardhan & Harihareshwar in two days i.e. the favorite Saturday and Sunday.
During the journey itself we dicided that we will make a night stay in Diveagar and drive to Diveagar, I heard from few of my friends that it is a good place, so we thought lets go ahead and see how much good it is. As a family we are very foodee poeople, who wants to explore options in food(though we are vegetarian) and prefer maharashtrian food. We were having number of Mr. Suhas Bapat who runs a sort of eatery in Diveagar and we were having his number with us.
So we did call him and placed order for us while we were reaching in Diveagar. The people who visit Konkan has to remember one thing that they have to place the order well in advance to the person whom they decided to visit for lunch or dinner, as Konkani people are very strict about timing as well food. Hence we too the precautionary step and placed an order with him. As expected we really had a good time with food at Mr. Suhas Bapat and had unlimited Maharashtrian Veg Thali for Rs. 75/- each with Modak for Rs. 8 per piece. All in all food was excellent and we all really enjoy very much.
Now the second task was to make the arrangement for stay. As June July is generally a low season in Diveagar, we come to know that we will get many good options for stay. We did check out few hotels where the rates were really high. However, we got an option from Mr. Bapat about Chintamani resort owned by Mr. Mandar(09822899000). I had a discussion with this nice person and we booked two rooms in Chintamani Resort, the resort is really worth for the money as he provided mineral water for drinking as well as hot water for 24 hrs and he has a care taker there. The rooms were really clean and the overall ambiance was really good.
As mentioned, konkani people does not have service mentality and one more thing which I prominently notice was the mentality to grab as much money as possible from the visitor. I would recommend people to discuss out each and every minute details before agreeing to any thing with konkani person, as they tend to ask you more money later.
Our overall stay in Diveagar was really good. Then on Sunday morning we traveled to Shrivardhan and Harihwareshwar. I would like to mention my another good food experience in Harihareshwar was with Shubhada Mone madam(02147-226012/226132). She prepared a lunch for all of us, of course with prior order which cost me Rs. 75/- per unlimited thali.
