Hi there , I am back after a short break ... and probably all of you who read my reviews know why ... :-D . Well thought I should start of with a confusing title to my review . It is probably true , if you need to go to Djinns you do need a Djinn to get you in and pay up your bill .
This place is located on one side of the Hyatt Regency get in climb up the damn hill to the porch then roll all the way down the hill and take a left to reach the entrance of Djinns . So much for my wonderful directions . At the entrance you have one of those tables they put up at marriages with a nice sheet on top to disguise it . Oh almost forgot you have a couple of guys in suits standing there , sometimes I think they walked out of some Bollywood thriller . Those are your outdoor bouncers if you may call them so . Then you have the normal stag crowds waiting outside , each flaunting their knowledge of the cream of Delhis socialites thinking maybe they would be allowed inside. Bad luck fellas , couples only. Wierdly enough once I did notice a couple of ladies standing outside waiting to get entry as well , wierd but true .Since when did that happen ? One part you cannot miss is the way these people dress up , one would think they are attending someones marriage. The other you cannot miss , like Asavari mentioned in her review , tiny cellphones being flaunted around and big flashy cars , maybe I should have gotten my granddads premier padmini , thats big alright :-D .These two things seem to get entry for everyone who has them .
Once you do get past this barrier you have a nice walk to the entry of Djinns. Once inside the haven of the elite opens up to you .Dont be surprised if you see the whos who of Delhis social circle inside. The Decor is decent enough with the Bar counter to your extreme right and other seating everywhere. Then you have the high table adjoining the dance floor , kind of lines it . To your left you have enclosures for the bigger groups . Well its just a covered area with a sofa in a U shape. You also have the pool tables to the left (Dont know if they are still there. The dance floor to the right . They have the stage for the performers right in front of the dance floor. Then you have indoor bouncers everywhere , be careful of these guys , they seem to know just when you are trying to act frisky .... ;-D and also that they are always right irrespective of what you think :-D .
Being a 5 star hotel the service is extremely good , something which I can say is good in this place. Courteous staff and extremely efficient as well. Thats as far as the nice part of this place goes.
These guys normally have someone on the other performing and I have always wondered where they get these performers from . True , some of them are really talented people and do justice to the term music , most of them however are pathetic . Well thats my opinion and very arguable . I think they would be better off using their own DJ rather than getting the stage performers .
The dance floor itself is a riot in its own right , you have a mix of these romantic couples , morons who think they can dance and absolute morons who think its the best place to feel someone over . Sit outside the dance floor on those high tables and enjoy , it will be better than the best comedy movie you ever saw.
The prices , oh boy !!! .Think they just pick up a menu from some pub and put extra zeros in front of every item . Thats how expensive it really is . Well then the thing is it is meant for the elite and the high and the mighty not for ordinary riff raffs like most of us. :-D
Overall , been there done that. Not some place atleast I would like to go to . I am not a millionaire so I cannot afford the place , I do not appear on the page 3 of national newspapers so in all probability I cannot get entry either. And you really wont be missing anything by not being there its like most of the pubs in town the only exception being its the recluse of the elite. So if you want to get that snob value , go there , otherwise find another pub and enjoy yourself......
