This is easily one of the best movies of the year 2006. This movie scores in every department, be it cast, dialogues, direction, music.. everything. I do see a lot of marathi films. I remember watching kalat nakalat which comes marginally close to this one. This movie is about a common man and his inability to cope with the system. This story is about Madhav Apte, whos also principled (unfortunately) and desperately loses a lone battle trying to change the system. Sandeep Kulkarni in Madhav Aptes skin is absolutely brilliant. He has been able to perfectly portray the dormant volcano of rage erupting when it reaches the end of his limit. Its so real this movie. 90% of the population here in Mumbai is stuck in daily rut of waking up - commuting - work - commute - sleep. Madhav being a principled man, sticks to his principles but is not able to keep up with it. There are so many hardships, a principled man has to face making money. On top of that there are money drawing leeches in every part of the society trying to suck hard-earned money off the common man. Life is harsher than it appears in the movie for some. Not sure if this movie will win an award, but if I was a jury, I would definitely put this movie up in the hall of fame.
I went in sans expectations and came back with a wet handkerchief. This has been the movie of this year for me. Kudos Nishikant Kamat!!
